Silvia Martínez Falquina es Licenciada en Filología Inglesa (U. de Oviedo, 1997, Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura) y Doctora en Filología Inglesa (U. de Oviedo, 2002, Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado). Fue becaria del II Plan Regional de Investigación (P. de Asturias) y F.P.U. Realizó estancias de investigación en Michigan State University (predoc) y U. of Glasgow (postdoc). Se incorporó al Dpto. de Filología Inglesa y Alemana de la Universidad de Zaragoza en septiembre de 2003, donde es Profesora Titular de Universidad desde 2007. Ha enseñado literatura y lenguas modernas en las universidades de Oviedo, Glasgow y Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College. Actualmente imparte clases de literatura norteamericana en el Grado en Estudios Ingleses de la U. de Zaragoza. Ha participado en 14 proyectos de innovación docente y obtenido la calificación positiva-destacada en todas sus encuestas docentes. Dirige TFGs, TFMs y tesis doctorales (1 defendida, 4 en realización). Ha coordinado intercambios Erasmus (Pau, Padua y Strathclyde) y con universidades estadounidenses (Oklahoma U, San Diego State U). Entre 2018 y 2021 fue la directora de la revista Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies (literatura, cine y estudios culturales). Es miembro de la Comisión Permanente de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, Miembro Electo de la Junta de Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, miembro de la Comisión Académica de Doctorado y de la Comisión de Evaluación de la Calidad del Programa de Doctorado en Estudios Ingleses. En 2020 fue elegida Vocal primera de AEDEAN (Asociación Española de Estudios Anglo-Norteamericanos), vocal de EAAS (European Association for American Studies) y editora del volumen de otoño de Nexus. Desde 2003 pertenece a un equipo de investigación consolidado y ha participado en diversos proyectos competitivos financiados por la DGA y el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad. También es miembro colaborador de los equipos Literatures Anglòfones Modernes i Contemporànies (UIB), LENA: Literaturas Étnicas Norteamericanas en un Contexto Global (U. de València), y CCyT: Cultura, Crítica y Textos (U. Internacional de Valencia). Su investigación más reciente se centra en la resurgencia nativa americana, el feminismo transmoderno y la teoría postcolonial de trauma. Especialista en la narrativa de Louise Erdrich, también ha analizado obras de autoras como Toni Morrison, Edwidge Danticat, Leanne Simpson, Evangeline Parsons Yazzie, Linda LeGarde Grover o Susan Power. En 2007 co-editó, junto con Bárbara Arizti, un libro de ensayos sobre la ética de la ficción (On the Turn: The Ethics of Fiction in Contemporary Narrative in English, Cambridge Scholars Publishing), y en 2009 colaboró con Gordon Henry y Nieves Pascual en el volumen de ensayos sobre la relación entre narrativa y crítica en la escritura nativa estadounidense (Stories Through Theories/ Theories Through Stories: North American Indian Writing, Storytelling, and Critique, Michigan State UP). Su libro Indias y fronteras: el discurso en torno a la mujer étnica (KRK, 2004) obtuvo el I Premio AUDEM para Jóvenes Investigadoras y su artículo “Memory, Diaspora and the Female Body in Little Haiti” obtuvo el Premio de Investigación Javier Coy/SAAS. Su co-edición (con Silvia Pellicer-Ortín y Bárbara Arizti-Martín) del volumen temático Beneath the Waves: Feminisms in the Transmodern Era se publicó en abril de 2021 como número especial de The European Legacy.
