Investigación actual: diseño, síntesis y caracterización de cristales líquidos de tipo bent-core y materiales funcionales supramoleculares.
Investigación pionera en: a) CL ferroeléctricos para óptica no lineal, en proyecto postdoctoral (Univ. Colorado-Boulder, Prof. D.M Walba, sep. 1988-ago. 1989) y 4 proyectos nacionales, b) Metalomesógenos en PN (2), PEU (2), colaborando con Philips Research (Holanda), y coautoria de una monografía [Wiley-VCH, ISBN 3527292969].
En 1999 inicio en CL de tipo bent-core, descubiertos en 1996, contribuyendo al: i) diseño y síntesis de nuevos compuestos; ii) estudios estructurales, físicos y de fenomenología (col. UPV/EHU); iii) uso como materiales funcionales; iv) impulso de su versatilidad supramolecular; destacando artículos de revisión por invitación en RSC (3) y Wiley-VCH (1), capítulos de libros Wiley-VCH (3), y conferencias internacionales (invitadas y plenarias).
Participación en Proyectos: 23 nacionales (5 PI-coord. 3 co-IP), europeos (3), y redes europeas (3).
Actividad formativa en investigación: 10 TDs (1994-2021) y 2 en curso, postdoctorales MSCA (2), JAE-Doc (1) y Juan de la Cierva (1), TdL (8), TADs (1), TFGs (11), TFMs (7) y Erasmus+ (4).
