Luis Miguel Romeo (PhD Industrial Engineering, 1997). Full Professor at the School of Engineering and Architecture (EINA), University of Zaragoza (Area of Machines and Thermal Engines, Department of Mechanical Engineering).

I lead the DGA Research Group “Energy and CO2” (https://eco2lab.unizar.es/), where we work to transform how energy is sustainably produced and stored. Our primary focus is on reducing CO2 emissions through innovative technologies such as oxy-combustion and advanced CO2 capture systems based on carbonation cycles and solid sorbents. Concurrently, we explore new methods for energy storage using thermochemical processes, including the utilization of concentrated solar energy through carbonation cycles, the conversion of renewable electricity into green gases (hydrogen and methane) via power-to-gas technologies, and pioneering methods that use iron redox reactions to store energy efficiently and cleanly. Our goal is to promote integrated solutions that facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy (decarbonization).

RESEARCH
Participation in 35 publicly funded research projects (principal investigator of 23, including 9 European projects, coordinating 2 of them) and 29 research contracts with industry (principal investigator of 20).

107 JCR publications (77 in Q1), h-index of 40 (WoS), 43 (Scopus). Total citations: 5,240 (WoS), 5,680 (Scopus) as of July 2025. Average citations per year over the last 5 years: 400/year (WoS), 480/year (Scopus). Author of 11 book chapters published by international publishers. Over 100 conference contributions and 30 non-JCR and outreach publications.
