Jorge Velilla es Graduado en Matemáticas y Máster en Economía. Además, es Doctor en Economía por la Universidad de Zaragoza. Jorge Velilla ha completado su formación académica con cursos de especialización en diversas instituciones, como la Universidad de Columbia, la Universidad de Stanford, la Universidad Estatal de Georgia o la London School of Economics. Actualmente, es Profesor Permanente en la Universidad de Zaragoza, está afiliado a la Global Labor Organization (GLO) y es miembro del Comité Ejecutivo de la Asociación Española de Economía del Trabajo. Ha sido Profesor Ayudante Doctor en la Universidad de Zaragoza y Profesor Sustituto en la Universidad de La Rioja, así como Visiting Scholar en la Universidad de Columbia y en la Universidad de Valladolid. Sus principales áreas de investigación son la Economía del Transporte y la Economía del Hogar, con especial énfasis en el uso del tiempo, los desplazamientos y las cuestiones intrahogar. Ha publicado sus investigaciones en revistas internacionales como The Economic Journal, Journal of Transport Geography, Transport Policy, Economic Modelling, Review of Income and Wealth, y Journal of Regional Science.
